I’m interested in discussing libertarian strategy.
Maybe you are too?
If so, leave a comment below. Give me your greatest question, thought, insight, whatever about libertarian strategy.
I’ll start a series of posts and maybe we can learn something!

we must be seen as serious.some people see the Libertarian Party as a joke. Also some conservitive publications like newsmax, have roped us in with the republicans.and other splinter groups Boston Tea Party and Progressive Libertarian Party, and hold on to your hats National Socialist Green Libertarian Party. So many to chose from. But there’s probaly more out there. What ever the Party must use every avenue.Every medium at its disposal. And that little thing called money.Money talks and B.S. walks.Start with the youth, College and high school.then Libertarian have to take time to educate themslves.Yes read books, magazines, videos.websites of different Liberty or Libertarian organizations.Total immersation on the subjects of Liberty.Know the difference from a neocon and a conservitive.Know the difference from Keynesian economics and Austrian economics. It’s a long road but this isnt going to be taught in any government school. If you have any energy after that then there’s talk radio for the time being. We must engage the public.Stand our ground be firm when they start “yeah but you know”.Be firm in our Princples. Thats all I can think of hope this helps. Larry T
WOW Larry – you said a lot – LOL
I have to agree with you about the education bit. I think I would like to see it go a little further then just lectures in school. I would like to see entire courses on the subject.
Economic, philosophical and political courses. Maybe we should create our own school and offer the courses ourselves. Anyoen up to starting an online college for Libertarians?
Excellent.
My two cents would be the following:
1) run a few candidates. I can help with this however you guys already have people in your database that have made inquiries interested in running for local office.
2) get behind an issue/law to repeal and be vocal about it. I have mentioned the Sunday morning ban on alcohol sales which is an easy one to get passed and the public would be behind you. There are many others.
3) send out regular press releases to the media so they start to take you seriously. If you never send anything out the media either doesn’t know you exist or aren’t taking you seriously.
3) get more people in the seats at the meetings. This is obviously easier said than done, however I strongly feel if your membership list is split between five volunteers the calls can be made the Sunday before the meeting and you’d have a MUCH larger turnout.
Take note, not one of the items above costs a dime – but does cost time. You up for the challenge?
Whoa, that’s the most I’ve ever heard/read Larry say. It’s true. Education is key. Barring the online Libertarian college, we have at our disposal http://www.isil.org, http://www.libertarianism.com and Cato’s series on youtube. Sundays 3-5pm ET on http://libertyradionetwork.com is cool. Tuesday nights at 7:30pm ET is the Restore the Republic call. Wednesdays at 9pm ET is the We The People call.
The next best thing we can do is have BLISS through yahoo messenger as a conference or on webex.com at set times on set dates. The curriculum can be posted prior so people can do their assignments/homework and be prepared for discussion.
Thanks for all the comments. Of course, more are welcome.
I can see where much of the confusion in libertarian strategy starts – at the very beginning!
If there is any interest in my BALM idea I may start that. Let me know if you want me to, and how much you are willing to support it.
The LP may not have worked but maybe something good can arise from the ashes…
BTW, BALM stands for Build A Libertarian Movement.
BALM University – sounds great to me – lets get started
